We live in the age of seduction. At no time in history has mankind been exposed to a greater volume of twisted information. Driving through the fog is risky for the brightest minds. That means the rest of us are easy pickings for our culture’s social predators.
The dictionary defines “seduction” as, “to decoy, allure, bait, violate, prostitute, or ravage.” This is the precise mission of political, business, and spiritual seducers in today’s America.
The tools of seduction are many, but fear, promises, herding instincts, repetition, and dishonesty are some of the best.
If you can scare people, you can shut down their heads and turn on their emotions. The dangers of reacting from feelings as compared to responding from thought are evident. Try asking a few friends what they think about a current political issue. Odds are their response will come from their heart and not their head. Anyone running off emotion will bump into stupidity just around the corner.
Politicians love to promise things – especially something for nothing. Laying aside that nature tells us there is no such thing, the temptation to buy into this lie is powerful. Lottery tickets anyone?
We all like to belong. Per the lessons of Nazi Germany, most of us would rather belong to something bad than risk standing alone for something good. Culture vultures delight in our tendency to flock. It makes us easier prey.
Repetition works well to teach the mind of a school child. It also works well to twist the mind of an adult. We have been bombarded with so much liberal nonsense for so long that we actually think socialism, restricting religious liberties in public schools, and having a drug house in most communities is normal. William James, the father of modern psychology, got it right when he said, “There’s nothing so absurd that if you repeat it often enough, people will believe it.”
If all else fails, lying works. In fact it can be argued one of the key traits for a successful seducer is the ability to distort, minimize, or deny the truth with sincerity. Truth is thus best found in actions over words.
The antidote to seduction is for conservative thinkers to remain thinkers. It is also important that we work hard to reinforce personal principles with action. A person who thinks and stands for something is much less likely to take candy from strangers…

Just read the "He has" clauses in the Declaration of Independence. For added interest try substituting Obama and/or Congress in place of the "He" in the clauses.
Freedom is not free, it was bought with blood and its repurchase (if lost) will be by blood.
