Conservatives reflecting on Black History Month find opportunity for celebration and consternation.
America's confrontation of racial oppression was a pivotal social achievement. Our subsequent surrender to racial drama, doctrine and dogma, a persisting shame.
A culture enabling slavery and segregation deserved rebuke. A culture enabling dependency, child sacrifice and failure addiction warrants the same reproach.
Until the Sixties, black Americans were growing at unprecedented economic, academic and social levels. Bigotry was an increasingly poor match for individual, family and cultural enterprise. Mirroring the vanities of America's misguided foreign entanglements, domestic social justice enthusiasts kidnapped this accelerating march to the sincere Martin Luther King Jr. dream.
