In our community crack dealing drug thugs typically get convicted three times before they go to jail. That's an absurdity. Perk pilfering County Commissioners typically get publicly shamed three times before they go back to making the rules. That's a travesty.
White-collar criminals do at least as much social harm as drug dealers, yet there is a clear double-standard on enforcement. Note the universal absence of consequence for the crooked financiers who kneecapped our economy.
The same is true for those engaged in the greatest criminal conspiracy in our country’s history – employers funding the mass invasion of our borders.
We understand why illegal aliens run from their countries. What’s less defensible is how our businesses, churches, politicians, and charities enable this cultural mayhem. We cannot uplift the world by pulling America down.
We ‘re currently absorbing one million legal immigrants a year. That’s four times historical averages. Add a similar volume of illegal human cargo to that equation and go to south Florida to view the impact on a society failing to assimilate new citizens.
Porous borders and weak immigration enforcement do great cultural harm.
Importing an underclass carries dramatic social, judicial, medical, education and other costs that fall on taxpayers, not employers. Then there’s the exploitability of those who’ve broken the law by violating our borders and using fake ID. Rationality grounds the term “illegal alien.”
Further harms come through the manipulation of a self-correcting free market economy. Third-world labor artificially suppresses wages to a point where many legal residents cannot make a living. We get cheaper burgers, but the less fortunate are forced into the dignity robbing subservience of government handouts.
Most of those drug dealers mentioned earlier are black males. To our shame, America has largely abandoned these young men. We don’t need them. The part-time, construction, and summer jobs that once served as a bridge to a future for teens and minorities are no longer available per the ready availability of illegally imported adult labor.
Answers to this white-collar crime begin with broader use of E-Verify. Thanks to a tanking economy, this employment eligibility screen is gaining political traction. Contrary to detracters, it’s ninety-six percent accuracy rating beats anything else coming out of Washington.
Illegal immigration apologists are correct – it’s not realistic to bus fifteen million lawbreakers back to their home country. We simply need to get serious about fining and jailing employers breaking the law in ours…
