Economic incentive is corporate welfare cleverly marketed as a public service.
Subsidized farmers, bankers, industries, foreign-aid recipients, and professional welfare mothers have much in common. All use government to steal other people’s money. All are dedicated to special interests over common interests. All have reciprocal devotion to the welfare of politicians.
America’s traditional success equation of liberty, opportunity, and responsibility has been actively subverted. Social predators masquerading as benefactors have exchanged what they evidently view as a dated “American Dream” for a new and improved “American Deal.” This self-destructive equation is characterized by illusory emphasis on freedom, rights, and entitlements.
The liberal message, “we’re all entitled”, is a winning recruitment tool. Our eroding values, work ethic, and accountability can be well traced to the left’s promise of something for nothing as a means to converting people into pets.
Crony capitalists seek that same bargain from the left as surely as the right. It’s telling that Democrats persistently receive a greater share of donations from unions, large companies, and major campaign contributors than Republicans.
Culturists interested in slowing these harms can find solace and guidance in nature. Outside of the fantasies of socialist thinkers, there are no entitlements. Nature is clear – we live in a dangerous and self-correcting world and we must do better if we want to live better.
That journey begins with things we should stop. Those include ignoring or enabling illegal immigration, fraud, energy dependence, white-collar crime, a rampant drug culture, and living beyond our means.
We’ll lose our place in the world if we’re not offering something of value to the world. That challenge requires a rededication to production over consumption.
Balanced budget requirements at all levels of government are crucial. Deficit spending enables politicians to abuse our currency, embrace foreign entanglements, and purchase votes having more to do with their longevity than ours.
Rededication to the rule-of-law versus rule by attorneys is crucial to keeping our civilization civil. Speaking of rulers, impairing our current “Buy America” campaign finance system necessitates engaged voters saying “no” to special interest funded candidates.
Earmarks, loopholes, lopsided trade agreements, and foreign police actions must end. Realistic retirement ages, authentic competition-based health care, and tax and education system reform must begin.
America’s history demonstrates that jobs and prosperity are a natural outcome of an honest, transparent, and accountable free-market economy. That’s what we need. That’s certainly not what we have…
