God’s chosen people conquered the land they called Israel in 1272 B.C. It took a thousand years of cultural degradation to forfeit their dream to Babylon. One more thousand passed before Mohammad founded Islam. Another thousand brings us to the present, where the fanatical of his modern-day followers are busily assuring there will be no peace in the Middle-East.
The country of Palestine never existed. Parts of old Israel did evolve into a territory called Palestine variously subdued by Romans, Islamic and Christian crusaders, Turks, and finally, Brits following WWI. Similarly, a territory known as “The South” was variously subdued by Spaniards, Frenchman, Englishman, Americans, and, finally, Yanks following the Civil War.
Palestine was divided by the British in 1923 and ninety-percent of this Turkish colony went to the Arabs. When Israel’s renewal was formalized in 1948, that day’s version of peace loving Muslims decided they wanted it all. The seven countries aligned against Israel lost that and four subsequent confrontations. Palestine is ground zero for the next one.
The Palestinian movement is not about creating a Palestinian nation. It’s about destroying a reborn nation called Israel.
Every Arab country rejects Palestinian refugees for the same reason armies resist deserters. Palestinians are Islamic cannon fodder. Yasser Arafat said it best immediately following his peace overture on the White House lawn in 1993, "Since we cannot defeat Israel in war, we’ll do it in stages. We take any and every territory that we can of Palestine, and establish a sovereignty there, and we use it as a springboard to take more. When the time comes, we can get the Arab nations to join us for the final blow against Israel."
Though Arab and mascot spin machines fake peace intentions, the actions of Hamas and Fatah and the PLO charter calling for Israel’s destruction expose deeper truths. So does Israel’s August terror calendar of a border raid out of Egypt, 200 rockets and mortars out of Gaza, diplomatic expulsion and warship threats from Turkey, and an Egyptian mob’s successful trashing and shut-down of the Israeli embassy.
Surrounded by enemies on all sides, Israel nonetheless prospers. Palestine, similarly surrounded, but mostly by oil-rich cronies, remains curiously trapped in poverty, corruption, and violence.
Disarm Israel and genocide will result. Disarm their Muslim neighbors and peace will result. The futility of Palestinian statehood and middle-east peace is thus revealed. Everything else is eyewash.
