The Republican primary is a curious mix of entertainment, education, drama, and pretense. As a reality show, it’s almost as good as “Swamp People.” On the minus side, it’s really tough to separate the wheat from the chaff. Everyone on that stage is a talker – including professionals whose talk doesn’t match their walk. On the plus side, whoever wins will be a practiced debater by the time Obama steps into the ring. The Republican candidate should be able to turn a bright light on our Presidential Imposter. Until that candidate emerges, conservative thinkers should look long and deep and chose wisely. Noah Webster once offered guidance, “In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate – look to his character.” At some point we’ll be stuck with a lesser of evils decision. Until that time think like a Cajun gater hunter, and ignore the glitz.

These are dangerous times for America’s only reliable and democratic ally in the middle east – Israel. The promised land is surrounded by enemies. It’s hounded by the UN and an international community more dedicated to anti-Semitism than truth. It’s enemies are protected by a bodyguard of lies and black gold concealing a mission of despotic religious imperialism – masked as righteous victimization. In the midst of this geo-political chaos rests a city boldly marking the authenticity of Israel as surely as it condemns the corruptions of her enemies. The City of David was reunited under Jewish authority in 1967 – and the word “reunited” is the right one. For the same Israel receiving so much persecution uniquely opens Jerusalem to all faiths. All others who once controlled the city, Muslims, Catholics, and everyone in between, slammed the doors to all but their own. Israel’s legitimacy could not be more surely affirmed.
