Hi, this is the conservative minute and I'm Dr. Carl Mumpower...
History tells us that cultures in decline become increasingly dedicated to trivia as they detach from things that matter. It can be argued that in today's America one example of trivial pursuit would be men and sports. No longer a past-time, sports are a national addiction and a distraction from much that matters. While it's true that sports can be a metaphor for life, they were never meant to be a replacement for life. Men, by design, are made for action - not observation. Watching other men overcome adversity and challenge in a ballgame is not the same thing as facing our own adversity and challenge. Men need uninsured moments to feel like men. Men need to face dragons and find their hero potential. The American Dream was not created by men watching tyranny from a rocker. It will not be protected by men watching sports from a recliner. History tells us about declining cultures and trivia. It also tells us that real men do and grow - while emasculated men observe and shrink...
I'm Dr. Carl Mumpower - thanks for spending a minute with a candid conservative...
