Hi, this is Dr. Carl with today's candid conservative minute...
It's been 50 years since the FDA approved the first contraceptive pill. Though it's given men freer access to the goodies - the benefits to women are not so apparent. When the pill first came out, conservative thinkers warned about promiscuity, family breakdown, denigration of women, and other cultural harms. Those voices were rebuffed as backwards, but it turns out they were right. Unplanned pregnancies, single parent families, and STD statistics have all expanded per the pill's liberations. So, too, has the social concept of women as toys for little boys. That's not sophisticated progress - its cultural regression - and evidently also a turn-off. The 'free love' generation is reporting a dramatic drop in their sex drive. Being treated like a snack is evidently not a self-esteem, happiness, or libido builder. The pill took the pregnancy risk out of casual sex - it didn't change the fact that for most human beings sex is anything but casual. For those impacts we have other pills called penicillin and prozac...
I'm Dr. Carl Mumpower and you've just spent a minute with a candid conservative...
