Hi - this is the candid conservative with today's candid minute...
If the November election plays out per predictions, Republicans will recapture the congressional purse strings. That's good news - but it's not great news. Regardless of party, once the election rhetoric is over, the real deal of governance begins. Time and time again, conservatives and liberals alike have found that though we have two parties, we mostly have one practice. For example both parties indulge special interests - their differences center simply on which ones they indulge. It used to be that Democrats would tax and spend and Republicans would borrow and spend. Is the newfound willingness of both parties to tax, borrow, and spend really a good thing? As the lesser of evils, Republicans may win in November, but that doesn't mean they will uphold their stated promises and potentials - unless they have to. Voting is not a fire and release weapon. Keeping the heat on our politicians is the only way to insure that a hopeful elephant's version of 'hope and change' is fulfilled with more sincerity than a departing donkey...
I'm Dr. Carl Mumpower and you've just spent a minute with a candid conservative...
