Hi - this is the candid conservative with today's candid minute...
There are a number of good books out on the long dysfunctional history of the CIA. This agency's clumsy application of precious dollars and people is marked with tragedy and folly. There's lots of new material for tomorrow's writers being created today. Per the Washington Post, since 9-11 our country's intelligence investment has increased by 250%. There are now as many as 263 organizations devoted to intelligence functions. Though we hope they're busy making America safe, history demonstrates, repeatedly, that more layers and complexities equals less communication and efficiency. As expected, James Clapper, Obama's nominee for Director of National Intelligence is defending the expansion - "One man's duplication is another man's competitive analysis". We'd suggest that duplication is simply a waste of precious resources. And that the fact we've been violated by 15 million illegal aliens mocks our intelligence investment. Using the same thinking with a smaller budget and staff, Barney Fife carried one bullet in his pocket to protect Mayberry...
I'm Dr. Carl Mumpower and you've just spent a minute with a candid conservative...
