Hi - this is Dr. Carl with today's candid conservative minute...
In the struggle for the hearts and minds of America, the left is winning the "Care Bear" trophy hands down. Like the parade of athletes cheating with steroids, however, that success is not coming from merit. Whenever a tough social issue comes into view, liberals call out their version of a SWAT team. The mission is to discredit the right as cold and indifferent and inflate the warm and cuddly credentials of the left. A conservative proposal to cut government expenses and hold the line on taxes is branded as abandoning the poor. Whereas a new unfunded entitlement program by the left is sold as enlightened compassion. The fact that containing expenses and taxes uplifts and that increasing costly and unsustainable entitlements burdens, gets lost in this staged morality drama. The left's deceptive efforts to assume the moral high ground are really just a version of moral narcissism. In the real world, the promise of something for nothing is always more about a vanity fix for the advocate, than true help for their mascots... ...
