Hi - this is Dr. Carl with today's candid conservative minute...
It was a moment of political irony that found one of the bitterest opponents of the surge in Iraq declaring victory as President. Last week Obama announced the end of combat there and the beginning of combat in a new war against financial ruin here. Conservative thinkers would recognize both observations as political theater. The war in Iraq is not over and our troops will continue to die there for years to come. The war with our economy isn't just starting, it's almost over. Our politicians have mostly exhausted their weaponry and it hasn't worked. Until we address our structural unemployment and exchange of a production for a consumption economy, all the printing presses in the world will not turn things around. Nor should we assume victory from the staged ending of our foolish foreign entanglement in Iraq. The lives of our young men and women should never have been so casually tossed into that swamp of corruption, religious barbarity, and violence. Now is a time to honor the service of our troops - not the political mission of mischief upon which they were sacrificed...
I'm Dr. Carl Mumpower and you've just spent a minute with a candid conservative...
