Hi, this is The Candid Conservative with today’s minute on a Double Whammy…
By now you’ve seen, heard, or read an expert’s opinion that deficit spending is not a big deal. Most of these “spend it if you’ve got it or even if you don’t” enthusiasts say everything can be easily fixed later – but not now. When have we ever been able to cut back on government spending? Clinton’s famous budget excess resulted from increased revenue, not a decrease in government spending. Our “G-Men” will not cut-back on spending until disaster forces that action – period. And then there’s that other dangerous “D” word – debt. Everywhere you look forward, there are a ton of unfunded mandates, entitlements, retirement plans, and other obligations. Deficits and debt represent a double whammy that can’t be explained away, promised away, or hidden away. True conservative thinkers recognize the dangers of postponing accountability and the importance of preparing a way – today.
I’m Dr. Carl Mumpower and you just spent a minute with a candid conservative…
